Our story
A Philadelphia family business since 1905.
It started with William Marshall selling office furniture in 1903, and turned into safes two years later. H. Harland Wilson came home from the Navy after the First World War, married the owner’s daughter, and opened a dedicated bank equipment and safe store on South St. in Philadelphia.
His son Richard joined the business after his service in the Navy during World War II, becoming one of the finest safecrackers in the region while earning a Wharton degree. Together they expanded into commercial sales and service and moved the business to Lansdowne, PA. Thirty years later, under Richard and his wife Peggy’s leadership, property was purchased in Philadelphia and a new headquarters and warehouse was built in 1985.
Their son Ray joined the company in 1985 and expanded it from a regional to a national and international focus, with two additional warehouse expansions added. In 2010 Pennsylvania recognized Wilson Safe as a Centennial Company.
